What is POVERTY ?

The most enduring social problem in our culture is poverty. As a result, we are still a developing nation because poverty is the cause of all the challenges we face. It is still not considered to be a problem.

According to the definition of poverty, it is a situation in which a person or community lacks the necessities of life and other essentials. When a person is in poverty, their level of employment-based income is too low to cover even their most basic needs.
There are various ways to define poverty. A condition that results from people or a population having limited access to economic opportunities, products, and services is one definition provided by the World Bank.

India regained its independence from the British government in 1947. At the time of the British left, it had a 70% poverty rate. India is the nation with the highest percentage of its citizens living in poverty. India's poverty rate has decreased from 31.1 percent in 2009 to 21.1 percent as of now. India is ranked 66th out of 109 countries in the world's multidimensional poverty index for 2021.In India, 68.8% of the population still lives on less than $2 or $1.25 per day. According to the multidimensional poverty index, the three poorest states in India are Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh (MPI)

On an economic level, there are numerous ways that poverty might appear. One person's definition of "wealth" and "poor" may not be another person's definition of either term. One person could be very wealthy while another is basically poor. Instead of focusing on how much money a person has, the term "poverty" is used to describe how much money they actually need. throughout the world, poverty affects people of both sexes as well as all ages, origins, and nationalities. Although everyone may affect, not everyone is aware of it. Both an economy and a person's lifestyle can be affected by poverty. Because they lack luxury stuff like a personal vehicle or a living room, someone lacking those things may be deemed to be poor.
